Despite adopting several family planning strategies, a 52-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Funke Adamson, has ended up giving birth to a baby girl clutching white ‘Ileke’ (Yoruba name for beads) on her hands. Funke, a traditional worshipper said she was delivered of the baby that has now been described by many as a “miracle child” on Monday, May 11, 2015 at a Trado-medical home in Apapa.Speaking to Vanguard, she said:

“I received a message from an Osun Custodian who said that a child is on the way for me. I didn’t believe him. I didn’t realize until the baby was three and half month old when I began to experienced flow of membranous fluid.”

A married couple in Malaysia have been jailed for allegedly stealing more than £20,000 from the bank accounts of four passengers on missing flight MH370 in the months after the plane disappeared.
HSBC employee Nur Shila Kanan and her husband Basheer Ahmad Maula Sahul Hameed made dozens of illegal transfers and withdrawals from four accounts, amounting £20,320.

Basheer Hameed, 34,was sentenced to four years in jail and three strokes of the cane for admitting to four counts of withdrawing 7,650 ringgit from the bank account of a passenger.Nur-Shila Kanan, 34, was sentenced to six years in jail.

The Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday said Muhammed Shuaibu suffered in the hands of four of its officers because he broke the rule.

Shuaibu, a Protocol Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, was tortured by some officers of the air force at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Sunday.

But the Command Public Relations Officer, Logistics Command, NAF, Joel Abioye, said Shuaibu suffered for breaking the rule and seeking to use his position to outsmart the officers.

“The incident happened at the Departure wing of the International Airport, Ikeja, on Sunday when one Muhammed Shuaibu, a protcol officer with FAAN confronted our men on duty for challenging him for parking in a wrong place, thereby obstructing free flow of traffic.This same man had earlier been cautioned to stop allowing motorists park indiscriminately for security reason. He was instructed to move his vehicle to the designated car park at the airport.

A security man, simply identified as Thompson, has died after drinking a bottle of a popular alcoholic drink and smoking five sticks of cigarette in two minutes, which were the terms of a bet he entered into with others he met at a joint.

The incident happened at Agege area of Lagos on May 7, after the deceased bought bottles of Ogogoro (local gin) for his drinking companions, who then challenged him to finish a bottle of bitters and smoke five sticks of cigarette within a stipulated time.

If he had won, the friends would have paid for everything he consumed.

Vanguard gathered that after agreeing to the terms, the deceased opened the bottle of bitters, drank it in less than two minutes, smoked two sticks of cigarette, stood up and began to walk away.

A woman battling anorexia,Rachael Farrokh, from Southern California, is begging the public to help save her life.

The 37-year-old actress, who has been battling anorexia for more than 10 years, has released a video on YouTube describing her fight against the life-threatening eating disorder.

A computer science and information technology graduate from a university in Cotonou, Anidi Reginald, has landed in police net for car snatching in Enugu.

Anidi, 27 years old, is said to have graduated from the university in 2013.

The suspect, from Enugwu Eke in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, was arrested by officers of the Ogui Division after he and members of his gang snatched a Honda Pilot car, with registration number AAA 598 CH, from the owner at gunpoint.

The incident occurred at Ozalla, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, by 11.00am.

For a section of the PDP to go around blaming Adamu Muazu for Goodluck Jonathan’s defeat in the March 28, 2015 election is proof that this body of mainly men and women who have no honor may also be proving itself to be a collection of people who have no brains. GEJ died of a thousand self-inflicted blows and Adamu Muazu is just the fall guy. A review of GEJ’s atrocities against the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians will confirm that to any fair minded person.

PDP is in dire need of a savior to save it from itself during these difficult days before it applies petrol to an already raging inferno. Somebody needs to let PDP know that Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid because he was incompetent, pure and simple.

To believe that anyone could have convinced Nigerian voters to re-elect a man who demonstrated on numerous occasions that he was not good enough to be a local government chairman is the classic definition of insanity.

Anxiety on Tuesday gripped ministers and other top government officials in Abuja ahead of the last meeting of the FEC under the Goodluck Jonathan administration scheduled to hold on Wednesday.

The apprehension was triggered by a report credited to the Minister of Information, Patricia Akwashiki, that President Jonathan would dissolve his cabinet during a “valedictory session” of the FEC.

The FEC is the highest decision-making body of the Federal Government and it consists of the President, the Vice President, all ministers, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the National Security Adviser, the Head of Service of the Federation and some top presidential aides.

The council members meet every Wednesday to take decisions on national issues.

"I can boldly tell all of you that I was a very principled man during my first marriage, I didn’t succumb to the wordly pleasures of this lustful environment, even though I had lots of opportunities. And it was this principled sobriety that made me fish for a virgin wife.

A native of Ezima village in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Mr. Charles Ikegwuruka, has been driven in a wheelbarrow into exile in his maternal home, Isu, in the same local government.

Charles was sent into exile for dragging his younger brother, Mr. Osiwu Ikegwuruka, to the dreaded Okija shrine (also called Ogwugwummiri Okija) in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Narrating his ordeal to Southern City News, Charles (in his mid-50s) said his brother (Osiwu) accused him of making his wife (names withheld) barren.

It was gathered that Charles had consulted a native doctor, who told him that a woman in his family had a “marine husband and child” and would not be able to bear children. The native doctor directed that the woman be brought to the shrine for cleansing.

“On the day of the cleansing, the native doctor took them to a river, killed a goat and strangled a fowl. He made incantations an ordered her to strip naked for a bathe in the river. Osiwu and Charles were there and watched her perform as instructed,” it was gathered.

It was, however, learnt that the cleansing failed to cure the barrenness; instead it led a crisis between Charles and Osiwu.

Southern City News gathered that the conflict was heightened when Osiwu received a letter from the Okija shrine, at the instance of Charles, summoning him and his wife to visit the shrine to swear an oath.

Osiwu reported the development to his kinsmen, who ordered Charles to withdraw the matter from Okija shrine. But Charles told the elders that the shrine refused to approve that the matter be withdrawn.

Charles’ kinsmen immediately resolved that he must ride on a wheelbarrow with palm fronds tied around his neck to his maternal home and stay there until he withdrew the matter lodged before the dreaded Okija shrine.

“Our son (Charles) has committed sacrilege. We can’t finish resolving a matter and still take it to a shrine, coupled with other atrocities Charles has been committing,” one of the kinsmen, who chose not to mentioned, said.

True Love? Man stores dead wife in living room freezer for 5 months

A man who has kept his dead wife's body in an 'ice coffin' in his living room for five months is being investigated by police in China.

Jiang Maode, 53, has been storing his wife Yang Huiqing in his family home for the five months since she died but has no plans to remove the body in the near future.Maode insists he will keep her body in their home for the rest of his life, reports the People's Daily Online.

Just before she passed away I promised her that I would keep her at home,' said Maode, who burns incense by the coffin every day.

He has even erected a small shrine in the room, in their home in Tian Yuan County, which is decorated with flowers and photos of his wife.Maode talks to his wife's body every day, insisting that he couldn't bear to be parted from her.

In the meantime, visitors are still willing to pay visits to the house and even let their children play alongside the coffin.

Huiqing, originally from Mianyang, was diagnosed with leukaemia in July 2014 but the diagnosis came too late to save her and she died on December 19.

She asked me to take her home,''She couldn't bear to leave me and I could not bear to be separated from her. 'I promised her that I would keep her at home after she passed away and when she heard this she was very happy.'When I come home I often speak to her for over an hour, talking about everything that had happened that day.'

The couple - who were married for 30 years - met in Sichuan when she was 15 and he was 19.

'I was wearing yellow shoes and a pair of pants with a big hole in them,' said Maode. 'I wasn't wearing a top and only had a small crop of hair. It was a very bad impression to give her.'I was very poor at the time but she never looked down on me. She was still willing to be with me.

Maode added that after her death he cried every day for 28 days, and lost more than 20lbs.

The couple's son wants to have his mother's body cremated at the end of the year, but Jing insisted he couldn't bear to let that happen and intends to keep her body with him for ever.

Lagos Lawyer threathens to sue Buhari for dropping 'General' title

The president-elect announced he would be dropping the 'General' title from his name come May 29th, a Lagos-based lawyer and rights activist, Mr. Ebun Adegboruwa, is threatening to sue him,arguing that it is illegal and immoral.

“I shall file a suit before the Federal High Court or alternatively, to give up, pay back and restore, all the pensions, salaries and benefits that he has so far earned, either as a commissioned officer of the Nigerian Army, or as a former military Head of State.”

The letter reads:

I have read the press statement of the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), indicating that as from May 29, 2015, he would like to be addressed simply as Muhammadu Buhari, without reflecting his official designation as a retired officer in the Nigerian Army.
This is totally shocking, and rather unacceptable. I therefore humbly urge all Nigerians to disregard this appeal from the President-elect, as it is illegal and immoral, upon the following reasons.

1. Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.) is the official and legal status, title, designation and appellation of our dear President-elect. He has no choice in the matter but to continue to carry this cross, for life.
2. The military in Nigeria and the world over, is a dignified professional institution, built upon the solid foundations of discipline, selflessness, courage, dignity, loyalty and patriotism. It is an institution that everyone should be proud of, except those of them who were trained and equipped by this noble institution, but chose to capture civilian power, through coup detat.
3. Under and by virtue of the Armed Forces Act, (s.25) a retired army officer, such as the President-elect, is forever a part and parcel of the Nigerian Army.

4. Under and by virtue of Paragraph 1(1) of the 1st Schedule of the Armed Forces Pensions Act, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), is entitled to and has indeed been receiving and benefiting from pension, as an officer who held a regular commission, before his retirement.

5. Major-General Mohammadu Buhari (Retd.) illegally seized power in Nigeria from an elected President, on December 31, 1983 and forcefully crowned himself as Head of State. He forcefully held on to power for 1 year, 239 days, before he was also deposed on August 27, 1985, by General Ibrahim Babangida (Retd.). He is thus a retired commissioned officer of the Nigerian Army and he remains so for as long as he lives.

6. Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.) attends the Council of State meeting as former Head of State, which office he held in his capacity as a Major-General.

7. Under and by virtue of section 1 of the Remuneration of Former Presidents and Heads of State Act No. 32 of 1999, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), is entitled to a very fat salary as pension, for life. He is also entitled to the following benefits:
(i) Chief Administrative Officer of not less than Grade Level 12;
(ii) Personal Secretary of not less than Grade Level 12;
(iii) Four armed policemen as his private security;
(iv) A top ranking State Security Service officer as his Aide De Camp;
(v) Three official vehicles to be changed every four years;
(vi) Three drivers to be paid by Federal Government;
(vii) Diplomatic Passport for life;
(viii) Free medical treatment in Nigeria for himself and members of his family;
(ix) Free medical treatment abroad for himself and members of his family;
(x) Thirty days annual leave;
(xi) Well equipped and well furnished office accommodation;
(x) Well equipped and well furnished living apartment, not less than five bedroom duplex;
(xi) Free telephone, etc.
(8) The President-elect became entitled to all the above, by virtue of his membership of the Nigerian Army; he became Head of State, by virtue of his commission as an officer of the Nigerian Army and he has earned these salaries and benefits as such, over the years, even when he contested elections in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.

(9) The moral question, involved in the President-elect’s sudden change of status, is in the fact that he contested election and canvassed for votes, from Nigerians and he was so voted for, as a retired military general. He should continue to bear and carry that honourable title of Major-General, for as long as he lives.

10. Thus, so long as Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), is earning his pensions from the Nigerian Army, so long as Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), is earning all his benefits as a former military Head of State and so long as Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), has not changed his name and status in the way recognised by law, the good people of Nigeria, in particular the Nigerian Army, are well urged to continue to address him as a retired Major-General.
PERSONAL APPEAL

From all the foregoing, I therefore humbly appeal to the President-elect, to continue to bear his official name and status, by which he once climbed to power. I do sincerely sympathise with the President-elect, on the very sad and distasteful memories, that this title attracts to him, but it is his cross to carry. Nigerians voted for him, in spite of his past and that should be enough encouragement for him, to strive to erase any negative impression, that it may have occasioned.
The best option for the President-elect, to erase those memories from our hearts, is not by seeking to deny his past, but rather to use his present position, to address the fundamental issues of corruption, epileptic power supply, unemployment, insecurity, infrastructure development and such other issues, that were the subject of his campaign promises.

COURT CASE

Should the President-elect ignore this appeal, by insisting on denying his past, whilst he continues to earn salaries and benefits through the same rank that he seeks to jettison, I shall file a suit before the Federal High Court, to seek an injunction to restrain the President-elect from denying his official and legal titles, or alternatively, to give up, pay back and restore, all the pensions, salaries and benefits that he has so far earned, either a commissioned officer of the Nigerian Army, or as a former military Head of State.

The problem facing Nigerians presently is not about designation, titles or status, but rather that of fulfilment of all the promises made during the campaigns. WE WANT REAL CHANGE, NOW, NOW, NOW!

Chibok girls held in bunkers-Governor Shettima

Borno State governor, Kassim Shettima, Tuesday, said there was every tendency that the female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, abducted by members of the Boko Haram sect, in April 2014, were being held in bunkers, inside Sambisa Forest.

Shettima, spoke in Abuja, while presenting a paper at a two-day post election conference on security and governance, organized by the Savanna Centre, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary, Borno Elders Forum, Dr Bulama Mala Gubio, said

“We are suspecting that Chibok girls are living with the insurgents in bunkers, I think the military must carry out their operations beyond the surface earth,”They (Boko Haram) were also known to have dug tunnels to enable them move from house to house. This adorably cute baby named Eli Thompson, is a 1 in 10 Billion baby. He was born with a rare condition known as Congenital Arhinia. It is a condition where the baby is born without a nose, and it is so rare there have only been 30 cases reported so far.
Brandi, and Troy Thompson were not aware there was anything different about their baby until after he was born, because nothing showed up on the ultrasound. At birth Brandi and Troy were totally surprised to see their baby did not have a nose. A tracheotomy was done to help him breath better, and Eli will be going through more surgeries in the future. He requires close monitoring, and he cannot cry so his parents have to keep a close eye on him

When 61-year-old Jan Marshall signed up to an online dating website called Plenty of Fish, she put up her personal details and where she works, and quickly she was matched to a ‘British’ man — Eamon Donegal Dubhlainn — who claimed he worked as an Engineer in the United States

In a few months, after consistent communication through email, phone and instant messenger (though they never had any video chat), she fell in love with him. He proposed marriage and she accepted.

And then she began sending him money through his bank account after he claimed he was trapped in Dubai and couldn’t pay his taxes. he said he would pay her back, but he never did. Next he was asking for more to buy materials, all of which she sent through Western Union. Though the platform had a limit of $10,000 per transaction, she sent in multiples of ten, like when she sent him $40,000.

Once he had claimed he was on his way to the airport, to travel and see her, but he had a car accident. She received forged emails and bills from doctors and nurses who claimed they were treating him, and she paid all the bills. She would later realise the scam after she had sent him about $350,000.

Through investigations, Australian authorities found out that Eamon Donegal Dubhlainn does not exist, that the picture was stolen off the internet, and that the $350,000 actually was transferred to Nigeria. The fraud was traced to a 419 ring in Nigeria.

For Jan, who still owes Australian government about $76,000 in taxes incurred from all the funds she sent to the scammer, she is heartbroken.

“It has left me in a lot of strife,” she told Daily Mail. “I gave him money from my pay, I had to borrow money to get through that first month, I closed down a lot of discretionary spending and I am still in strife in credit card and tax office debt.”
